Admitting

When the physician gives you an order to receive outpatient testing or schedules you for testing, please report to the Admitting Office.  The office is located off of the lobby area. The office is open from 7:00-5:00. After 5:00 PM please report to the Emergency Department desk. Please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment. This time allows us to finish serving customers who arrive before you and to give you the time necessary to complete all required paperwork prior to your service.

Pre-registration expedites your check in process on your appointment day. There may be a few additional questions we need to clarify and we will ask you to sign a consent form. Please bring the original physician's order and all insurance cards at the time of registration. If you have any questions, please contact our admitting department at 979-578-5148.

Physician Orders

When coming for outpatient testing you must bring your doctor's written order for treatment.

The Federal Government states that a complete physician's order must include the following elements:

  1. Patient's Full Name
  2. One additional identifier (i.e., date of birth or social security number)
  3. Service Ordered
  4. Diagnosis or Signs and Symptoms
  5. Physician Signature
  6. Date of Order

Medicare requires us to verify medical necessity for certain outpatient testing. If the testing does not meet Medicare's guidelines, you will be asked to sign an Advanced Beneficiary Notice stating that you will be financially responsible for the service.

Physician Billing

Various physicians involved in your care at ECMH will bill you directly for their services. These may include your anesthesiologist, emergency room physician, radiologist, pathologist, cardiologist, surgeon or other consulting physicians during your ER visit or hospital stay. Please remember that some physicians are private practitioners (contracted by ECMH and not an actual employee of ECMH) and may not be a provider on your specific managed care plan.
