FAMILY NURSE PRACTITIONER - EL CAMPO
POSITION SUMMARY
Provides primary medical care in a clinical setting under the supervision of a licensed physician. Evaluates patients in a Rural Health Clinic working through physician-approved protocols. Insures quality assurance standards are met by following all guidelines of physicians and Mid Coast Health System. Collaborates with physicians and local health care facilities to provide delivery of services available for patient’s needs. Acknowledges and responds appropriately to the hospital’s customer relations philosophy, including the five fundamentals of the AIDET program.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
Provides comprehensive patient care. Collaborates with physician supervisors through approved protocols to provide delivery of quality health care services. Assumes responsibility and is self-motivated. Performs other related duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education - Graduate of a Nurse Practitioner Program. Bachelor’s Degree in the health care field is desirable. Certified by the AAPA as Nurse Practitioner. Licensed by Texas Board of Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner.
Physical Demands
Must be able to work 8-9 hours, standing for long periods of time; bend, stoop, squat, reach above shoulder level; lifting up to 50 pounds. Occasional heavy lifting when moving or supporting patients who may suddenly become weak or helpless.
Working Conditions
Must be flexible and available during clinic hours Monday through Saturday. Exposure to sick patients, equipment and staff noise and interruption. Maintain a professional appearance and attitude. Understand and honor requirements of patient confidentiality.

Maintain records, such as pharmacy files, patient profiles, charge system files, inventories, control records for radioactive nuclei, or registries of poisons, narcotics, or controlled drugs. Plan, implement, or maintain procedures for mixing, packaging, or labeling pharmaceuticals, according to policy and legal requirements, to ensure quality, security, and proper disposal. Assess the identity, strength, or purity of medications. Review establishing procedures that promotes the efficient workflow of the pharmacy including assigning roles, coordinating activities, and soliciting employee suggestions. Verify patients in addition to managing the pharmacy. Maintains current knowledge and skills related to pharmacy and healthcare by reading pharmacy related journals, company publications, and communications.

POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of a Occupational Therapist, the Occupational Therapy Assistant provides treatment in the hospital or the home care setting to restore function and prevent disability following disease, injury or loss of a body part. The Occupational Therapy Assistant shall be responsible for maintaining standards of professional and ethical practice in the provision of occupational therapy services.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
- The licensed Occupational Therapy Assistant provides direct occupational therapy intervention based on the individualized treatment plan and established priorities for each patient as developed by the Occupational Therapist.
- The licensed Occupational Therapy Assistant assesses and documents the patient’s response to occupational therapy intervention in relation to the stated goals of the treatment plan.
- The licensed Occupational Therapy Assistant develops and maintains effective communication with the patient, family and staff members.
- The licensed Occupational Therapy Assistant participates in continued application of standards required by all applicable accrediting bodies (i.e., CMS, etc.)
- The licensed Occupational Therapy Assistant understands the parameters of and works within the supervisory process.

Physical Demands:
Prolonged, extensive or considerable standing/walking. Frequently lifts, positions, transfers and transports patients. Frequently moves supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs from locations at or above shoulder level. Must be able to drive a car 30+ miles per day, get in and out of the car, open gates and visit patients in their homes. During an evacuation, may have to assist patients on stretchers or wheelchairs.
Working Conditions:
May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases, but will be expected to utilize universal precautions as delineated in the Infection Control Manual. This job is rated as a moderate risk of exposure. Occasional exposure to unpleasant elements, including heat, cold and humidity. Will routinely make home visits as needed by Community Home Care, and may encounter situations including but not limited to: various species of animals, opening and closing of gates, extreme temperatures both indoor and outdoor and various weather conditions. Employee will not be expected to drive through running water or on icy roads.. May work with combative patients. Will be expected, as directed by supervisor, to provide services for any area in the hospital (or in patients’ homes) in which the employee demonstrates competency.
