Surgery Specialty Department

El Campo Memorial Hospital's Department of Surgery is dedicated to providing high-level care to patients with medical surgical needs. We also maintain the highest standards of clinical practice to serve people of our community. Our qualified Specialists, Medical Surgical Team and Nursing Staff work together to provide the best possible health care.

The Surgery Department provides a safe and comfortable environment for all patients. Today's surgeons perform a multitude of surgical procedures utilizing the least invasive procedures, minimizing the patient's hospital stay, if any. Many procedures are completed on an out-patient basis, enabling the patient to go home the same day. In order for a patient to receive a surgical procedure at El Campo Memorial Hospital, their primary care physician, family doctor or specialist will refer them to our Surgical Department. The patient will have a consultation with the surgeon. The surgical nurse will follow up with detailed surgical instructions, both pre and post-surgery. Patient may also directly contact the surgeon for a consultation. El Campo Memorial Hospital has a full-time anesthesiologist that works closely with the surgical team. The Surgery Department follows all standards and practices set forth by the State of Texas, including El Campo Memorial Hospital's own policies and procedures to ensure that all patients are safe and get the best care possible.

Day Surgery
The Day Surgical Department provides the community with a service enabling individuals to have surgical procedures performed that do not require overnight hospitalization. Following the procedure and a short observation period, the patients are allowed to return home to recover.

El Campo Memorial Hospital (ECMH) and its predecessor have been providing the highest quality medical care in El Campo for over 68 years, and at the current location since 1979.The hospital is accredited by state and federal regulations (Medicare/Medicaid). Patient Billing: Various physicians involved in your care at ECMH will bill you directly for their services. These may include your anesthesiologist, emergency room physician(s), radiologist, pathologist, cardiologist or other consulting physician during your ER visit or hospital stay. Please remember that some physicians are private practitioners (contracted by ECMH and not an actual employee of ECMH) and may not be a provider on your specific managed care plan.
